MANAGEMENT
FLOOD MAP MEETING
This meeting was held in the Otoe County Courthouse in the
Georgia Wright FEMA Region VII Manager started the meeting
and let everyone present know that the purpose of this meeting is to review the
preliminary flood maps (DFIRMS) within the County. The Nebraska Department of Natural Resources
engineer and Flood Plan Manager introduced themselves and presented some of the
changes with in the county and asked if there were any questions.

Georgia Wright FEMA Region VII mentioned that two (2) weeks prior to the end of the 90 days appeal period FEMA will advertise a notice in the Nebraska City Newspress. Also, within a 6 month period the county will be required to use the new maps.
Being no further questions from the participants the meeting was adjourned at 11:00.

(DFIRM) Updates
Project Summary
The countywide Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRMs) have been updated to reflect the following:
· Vertical
Datum Shift from NGVD29 to NAVD 88 of 0.34 feet (NGVD29 + 0.34 =NAVD88). This affected 10 panels.
· Missouri River BFEs were based on USACE's Upper Missouri River (UMR) study; Floodplain boundaries were delineated using the BFEs and 4-ft topo from the UMR study.
· Two
federal levees along the
90-Appeal Period:
Base flood elevation (BFE) changes resulted due to incorporation of the
new detailed UMR study; therefore a 90-day appeal
